Surgical Sperm Recovery is a minor surgical procedure performed as a day care surgery where the sperms of male partner with very poor sperm counts are collected for IVF fertilization. There are different procedures carried according to the patient’s requirement.
It is also called Testicular Fine Needle aspiration and in this procedure, sperms are obtained when sperms are not present in the ejaculate. It is mainly suitable in patients with obstruction in their spermatic duct, obstructive azoospermia, due to infections, trauma, post-vasectomy (where surgical reversal has failed), and even with low sperm production.
Uses a fine needle to aspirate sperms through the scrotal skin from Epididymis which is a sperm-rich tube at the back of the testis.
Uses microsurgical procedure to gather sperm from Epididymal under high magnification in cases of extremely low sperm production.
