Most of the centres follow the conventional IVF treatment where the embryos are transferred within 2 or 3 days of insemination to the uterus. In Prime Centre the embryos are carefully monitored and cultured past their more advanced stages of development which is termed as blastocyst culture. Then the experts pick the most viable embryos past their blastocyte stage and transfer them to the female partner’s uterus. This method significantly increases the chances of pregnancy and is very usefully in couples with repeated conventional IVF failures with an added advantage of reducing the chances of having multiple pregnancies as less number of embryos are required to be transferred.
Patients are offered this option to preserve their gametes prior to their radiation or chemotherapy treatments for cancers such as leukemia’s, lymphomas and sarcomas. It is also offered prior to medical treatment of certain other diseases as systemic lupus erythematosus, acute glomerulonephritis and Beehcet’s disease. These treatments are also known to cause reduced fertility or premature ovarian failure. Certain women with lifestyle risk of Physiological (ovarian) aging or Premature ovarian aging (POA) also opt for this treatment. Certain individuals who are exposed to hazards such as radiations, lead, pesticides, fertilizers, heat from furnaces may also opt for fertility preservation.
